Dr. Eric Hartelius is a general practitioner and the sole owner of Rondout Valley Veterinary Associates, Stone Ridge Vet Clinic, and Hudson Valley Animal Wellness. He was raised in the Hudson Valley, graduating from Rondout Valley High in 1978. He earned his veterinary degree from Cornell University in 1986, graduated from the IVAS veterinary acupuncture program in 2006, and has partially completed the certification program in veterinary rehabilitation. Along with acupuncture and physical therapy he has a special interest in veterinary behavior. He founded RVVA in 1997, first in Grahamsville and then in the Kerhonkson location since 2001.
Dr. Hartelius has been an adjunct professor at SUNY Ulster for 10 semesters. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys hiking, gardening, and playing the violin. His daughter, Cheyenne is a culinary student in Baking and Pastry, and together they care for their 3 dogs; Monica, Mr. Noodles, and Betty, along with their rabbit Peewee.
Dr. Laux currently resides in Rosendale with her Husband and son. She graduated Cornell University of Medicine in 2010 and has been practicing large and small animal medicine since. She is currently working at Rondout Valley Vets focusing on small animal medicine. In the time that she has been in practice she has become proficient in routine care, diagnostics, medical treatments, preventative health care, and with basic and advanced surgical procedures. In her free time she enjoys riding horses, running, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Elizabeth Prescott:
Dr. Prescott graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine with a focus in small animal medicine. She is dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized care. She is certified in Low stress Handling and strives to make each pet visit as pleasant as possible. She has a particular interest in internal and geriatric medicine, dentistry, and nutrition. Dr. Prescott lives in Rosendale with her partner, a shepherd-pit mix named Charlie, a sweet elderly schnauzer mix named Nigel, and a naughty orange cat named Butter. In her free time she can be found exploring the great outdoors, cooking, spending time with her family, and drinking coffee on the patio.
Laurel - Practice Manager
Laurel has been working in animal hospitals since 1999. Around animals her whole life, she grew up on a sheep farm in Whitehall, NY. Laurel received her B.A. in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz and also studied Veterinary Technology at SUNY Ulster. While attending New Paltz, she started her first animal hospital job and has been working in the field ever since. She has held every position from kennel help to veterinary assistant and now manages Rondout Valley Veterinary Associates, Stone Ridge Veterinary Clinic, and Hudson Valley Animal Wellness. Her personal pet family consists of two Weimaraners, Ludo and Nikki, Twinkie a silly hound mix, and two cats, Kabuki and Braveheart. She loves her work and being able to help pet owners and their furry family members live a happy and healthy life together.
Deborah - Office Manager
Deborah Graduated from SUNY Delhi with an associate degree in applied science in 1975 and has been working as a licensed veterinary technician ever since. Recently she joined the team at Rondout Valley Veterinary Associates and works at their satellite practice- “the Stone Ridge Veterinary Clinic.” She is very excited to continue working with our clients and helping them keep their pets healthy and happy. I
currently have 2 cats that have picked our house as their home., Tubby and Missy. In my free time , she enjoys gardening, crocheting, golfing and cross country skiing.
Jacob - LVT
Jake has been involved in the veterinary field for over 20 years. He received his Veterinary Technician license in 2003 from Suffolk County Community College. He has had the opportunity to work in several different animal clinics on both coasts before joining the Rondout Valley Vet and Stone Ridge Vet Clinic team in 2010 as one of the LVT's on staff. Jake is now enjoying the benefits of living full-time in the Hudson Valley with his wife Bernadette, dog Brooklyn, and two kittens Finn and Fiona. He looks forward to helping you keep your pets happy and healthy!!
Sarah - LVT
Sarah is currently working at both Rondout Valley Vets and Stone Ridge Vet clinic as a licensed Veterinary Technician. She is a graduate of the Veterinary Technology program at SUNY Ulster. Her family at home consists of two cats named Sheba and Judy, and two mixed breed dogs Paulie and Foxy. She loves animals and is happy that her job gives her the opportunity to work closely with pets and the people in the community.
Rebecca - Veterinary Assistant
Rebecca is one of the veterinary assistants who works at both Rondout Valley Vets and Stone Ridge Vet Clinic. She has always loved animals and couldn't think of anything better to base her professional career around. Rebecca is currently enrolled in school to become a licensed Veterinary Technician and can't wait to graduate and move on to the next step.
Ashlyn - Veterinary Assistant
Ashlyn works at Rondout Valley Vets and Stone Ridge Vet Clinic as a veterinary assistant. She is a 2013 graduate of Rondout Valley High School and is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Ulster County Community College. Ashlyn has two dogs of her own who she loves dearly." Kimie" is a Japanese Chin, and "Luna" is a German Shepherd/Husky mix puppy. She has always had a love for animals and loves being able to help you keep your loved ones healthy.
Breanna - Veterinary Assistant
Breanna is currently attending school at SUNY Ulster in the Veterinary Technician Program. She works at Rondout Valley Vets and Stone Ridge Vet Clinic as a veterinary assistant. She loves her job because it gives her the opportunity to work and care for animals. She has two Boston Terriers; "Cali" and "Maddie".
Jennifer - Groomer
Jennifer started her training in 1999 in a grooming shop in Stamford, CT. She then went on to open a grooming salon in a large chain store in 2003 and ran that until 2006 before moving to the Hudson Valley. Since moving to the area, she has raised 4 children and continues to love being around animals. She is very passionate about grooming and that has brought her to her new family in 2015 with Rondout Valley Veterinary Associates. Typically you will find her at the Stone Ridge Office location with her grooming appointments. Currently, she shares her home with her husband, youngest daughter, 6 dogs, 1 goat, 8 chickens, and 6 horses.
Jen - Receptionist
In 2007 Jen successfully completed the Veterinary Technology program at SUNY Ulster earning an Associates Degree in Applied Science. Since graduation she has held the positions of Veterinary Assistant and currently is a Receptionist at Rondout Valley Vets. She and her husband share their home with their cat, Smokey and their German Shorthaired Pointer puppy, Trigger. Jen has always had a love for animals and being able to work at Rondout Valley Veterinary Associates has been very rewarding. She looks forward to assisting you and your beloved pets with all of their healthcare needs.
